If so, I agree that it's often easier if the other party has an attorney. It's very difficult to negotiate with someone who wants something they are not entitled to and will not win in court. However, if they had hired a lawyer they would have been counseled that their demands are unrealistic, and we could all work on an appropriate solution. I've been running into a lot of people representing themselves lately. Not sure if they're trying to save on legal fees, but I think they'd be surprised by how much they might save by hiring someone who is an experienced negotiator and could probably settle their case in the 1/2 the time it takes me to get judgment.
