Attorney-Prepared Documents

On a budget?  Want to handle your case yourself?  Hate the idea of hiring a lawyer?  Here’s how I can help.

In addition to traditional full-scale representation, I am now offering a range of limited, or unbundled, legal services.  This means that you only pay for the services you need.  No more.  No less.  No long-term commitment.  No expensive retainers or hourly billing.

How it works

The legal help you need is broken down into individual tasks and priced separately.  For example, you may have already filed for divorce, but you are uncomfortable with writing a marital dissolution agreement.  I will charge you a relatively small fee to help you with just that document.  If you run into something else and you would like help, you pay another small fee for help with that task.

Not just legal forms

There are a lot of web sites that will simply sell you legal forms, but that’s not what I do.  The difference is I am an attorney licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee, which means:

  • I can give you actual legal advice tailored to your specific issue.
  • I am required to keep communication between us confidential.
  • In the event your case becomes more complicated and you require full-service legal help, I can offer traditional representation.
  • I am required to abide by the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct which control how attorneys communicate with, represent, and charge their clients.

Is this right for you?

Unbundled, or limited legal services, are best for people who have simple to moderately complicated legal problems.  If your case will require a lot of investigation, research, negotiation, or has a large number of issues, you may be better served by using typical full-service legal representation.

If you are unsure if these limited services are right for you, feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to discuss how these services may benefit you.

Unbundled services available

Family law (divorce and child custody)

Estate planning

Document review

Legal advice and coaching

The fine print

There’s always a catch, right?  Not in this case, my terms are simple and reasonable:  Payment is due before work begins, you will need to sign a fee agreement, your documents will be delivered either by PDF file or in hard copy, and if your documents are rejected by the court I will either edit them at no further charge or refund your money.

The legal advice offered along with these services is limited to questions needed to property complete your attorney-prepared documents.  If you situation requires extensive legal advice or analysis, or changes significantly, additional charges may be required.
